I enjoy the privilege of professional qualifications and hands-on experience in Learning & Development for almost 3 decades.
I started my career as a teacher in 1989 and later joined the Malaysian Armed Forces in 1993 as an Education Officer. Among my role in Armed Forces is being a Specialist in Royal Malaysian Navy Training System (RMNTS), a systematic process of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of training program.
I completed my military service in the year 2000. In the same year, I joined as a project team member of RM 6 Billion New Generation Patrol Vessel (NGPV) as L&D Specialist. Our technology partner for the training element of the NGPV was Scientific Management Associates (SMA), Melbourne, Australia. SMA is the leading organization in defense training with more than 30 years of experience in international projects. Managing Transfer of Technology from SMA to Boustead Naval Shipyard to conduct the ship crew training was one my most valuable experience in L&D. The experience from this project gave me the opportunity to be one of the speakers at Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) in 2012 on the topic of ‘International Technology Transfer: Rhetoric to Reality’
My first international exposure as the L&D Specialist was in 2010. I lead my organisation (Marine Technology Academy, Boustead Naval Shipyard, Lumut, Perak, Malaysia) to successfully bid for training project in Oman. The main scope of this project was to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate training for Royal Navy of Oman personal.
In 2012, I lead a competency profiling project for Boustead Naval Shipyard (BNS) staff. The main scope of this project was to develop a competency dictionary for BNS, determine competency gap and develop relevant training and non-training intervention to bridge the competency gap. The experience from this project enables me to be certified as Accredited Competency Professional (ACP) by Institute of Leadership & Management of UK.
My vast experience in L&D enable me to be selected as Principal Trainer for the Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA) Certified Training Professional (CTP) program. FAA is an agency supported by Central Bank and Security Commission of Malaysia. As the principal trainer of CTP, I had the privilege to facilitate subject matter experts from many countries that include Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, UAE, Oman, Egypt, UK, Ireland, USA, Tanzania, Kenya and Nigeria.
